Leaves, Pumpkins and Halloween

Fall is here, and though for awhile it seemed we were going to mostly skip fall and more straight to winter, mother nature decided to give us a reprive, which has been greatly appreciated by us.  We got to enjoy the fabulous weather this past weekend while visiting friends in Kansas City and the zoo there. And as much as I have enjoyed the great sunshine.  I'm now ready for the snow.  I guess it's because of deer season starting and I have interesting memories surronding that time and it almost always includes snow, but it is also that this time of year I definitely tend to miss home the most and the hours and hours my brothers and I spent playing in the snow.

One of the funny things about this Halloween is that it was a lot like it was for me growing up...trying to get on a halloween costume and stay warm enough. It ended up being barely 40 degrees around here when we were getting ready to go trick-or-treating and ended up keeping the girls in their warmer clothes instead of changing them into their super cute princess gear.

We had a great time raking up and playing in the leaves on Halloween with the sun shining. It wasn't super warm, but it was nice to have the sun out after so much rain!

Look at that sweet face.

The other fun thing about halloween that was a first for our girls was carving a pumpkin.  They really enjoyed getting the mess out and having daddy help put a face on it.

Hello Pumpkin-Man

And just because it was funny, Quinn decided to climb up and down the back of our chair while daddy was carving the pumpkin. She is such a little monkey.

And to close out our Halloween Season was trick-or-treating.  The girls had a great time walking from door to door, but neither of them wanted to say Trcik-or-Treat, so they were lucky enough to still get some treats.  I remember a house that we always went to that made us do a song or dance to get our treats.  I guess that's the nice thing about small towns.

Quinn's favorte treat fot the night was the teddy Grahams. She could hardly wait to get back and have a snack.

Avrie out and about. Isn't she a cute Cinderella.

We had a great weekend overall, and enjoyed watching Rob's cousin, Josh, at the marching band competition too. Avrie cried a lot when she learned that he wasn't going to be doing that any more. She'll survive though. Otherwise, things have been pretty good around here.
