So we took a trip. A long one. We went to Virginia. and North Carolina. Then we drove home. It was fun. Except for the sleeping...
Quinn has this thing where she doesn't like to go to sleep when she's not at home. We stopped in Louisville on our way to Virgina and she freaked out in the hotel. She didn't fall back asleep until 3 am. The rest of the nights at Rob's sister's house went well for the most part. And the first night at our friend's place in North Carolina did too. Then the night before our 15 hour road trip back home she freaked out again and didn't go to sleep until 1am...me neither. It wouldn't be so bad if we could let her be restless in her pack n' play, but no. Now she has learned how to crawl out of it...or how to climb onto the top of the rail and fall back inside and scream because she scared herself. It sounds like I am a horrible mom, and trust me I feel like it when she won't go to sleep, but I don't know how to help her. So, we keep trying. We take her penguin, and her blanket, and her huggie, and her bear, and her pillow and her little giraffe, and her elmo jammies, and we read stories, and we sing songs. We even had her sleep in the pack n' play at home before we left. Did any of this help...not really. So we will be in Michigan for close to two weeks. I'm working on saving up on sleep now, and trying to figure out what her "it" factor is...but so far all we can figure out is that it is Mama...*sigh*
So when we got home we found that the cat decided that she was too good to use the litter box while we were gone...didn't use it once. And yes, that is horrible and disgusting and the first time she has ever done that, but she decided that Quinn's room would be the place to go and go she did. Soo we had to move quinn's mattress into our room for the few nights before the carpet cleaners could come and Rob's alarm wakes Quinn up. And she climbs into bed with me and falls back asleep...
Yes, she is asleep...
She is laying over me with her head on the bed and legs in the air....asleep.
Our trip went well otherwise and it was great seeing everyone. Now on to getting ready for Christmas! Yipee!

ReplyDeleteThe travel/camp rocking chair that we lugged with us seems to be a key to the sleep success with Quinn, too, but only combined with "mamma"
ReplyDeleteI'm just chopped liver, but I won't hold it against her :)
Well, let me first say, Happy Birthday (one day late, sorry) Sara! I hope it was lovely!
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel, it's happened with each one of our girls; whenever we head out to CT to visit my folks, for their first or fifth ;) time, they seem to prefer only sleeping at home. I think hotels are the worst for that, because you are all in the same room.
It gets better, so hang in there. Hope the trip to Michigan goes better for all of you. Have a wonderful time preparing for Christmas and definitely enjoy all the craziness of Christmas morning. ;)
Take care!
With Love from the West Side of Michigan~
